Ting Customer’s Q&A
Ting Features and Benefits
Ting Mobile is a discount cellular service provider that offers flexible plans and operates on the Verizon and T-Mobile networks. Here are some of its key features and benefits:
- No contracts and transparent pricing: Ting Mobile offers contract-free plans with clear pricing, making it easy for customers to understand what they're paying for.
- Flexible plans: Ting Mobile offers a variety of plans to meet different needs, including a pay-as-you-go data plan. All plans include unlimited talk and text.
- Access to 5G and 4G LTE coverage: Customers have access to 5G and 4G LTE speeds. However, during busy times, speeds may be deprioritized to lower speeds.
- No overage fees: Customers will never pay data overages with Ting Mobile. If all of the high-speed data allotment is consumed, data speeds will be reduced to 2G speeds. Additional high-speed data can be purchased at $5 per GB.
- International calling: International calling and texting are available but cost extra.
- Device options: Ting Mobile supports both GSM and CDMA phones, and customers can choose to bring their own device or purchase one directly from Ting Mobile.
These features make Ting Mobile a solid choice for those looking to save money on their cellular service. However, it's worth noting that other discount carriers may provide cheaper options for higher data plans. Also, international calling can be costly with Ting Mobile.
Ting Pricing
Ting Mobile offers contract-free plans with unlimited talk and text. There are two choices for data: Data inclusive plans and the Flex plan.
Data inclusive plans are not shared, and each device gets the total amount of high-speed data. If all of the fast speed data allotment is consumed, data speeds will be reduced to 2G speeds. Additional fast-speed data can be purchased at $5 per GB. For example, the Set 5 Plan charges $25 per device, and each device gets 5GB of individual high-speed data to use.
The Flex plan offers pay-for-what-you-use data at $5 per GB, with the data shared across all devices on the account. If more than 1GB of data is used on the Flex plan, an additional $5 charge per GB used will be added. Speeds will not slow down to 2G speeds.
Here's a comparison of the plans:
Plan | Cost Per Line | Data Included | Data Overage | Hotspot |
---|---|---|---|---|
Flex | $10 | 0 | $5/GB for the account | Included |
Set 5 | $25 | 5 GB | Top-up's available or throttled data to 2G speeds | Available For the first 5GB |
Set 12 | $35 | 12 GB | Top-up's available or throttled data to 2G speeds | Available For the first 8GB |
Unlimited | $45 | 22 GB | Top-up's available or throttled data to 2G speeds | Available For the first 12GB |
Unlimited Pro | $55 | 35 GB | Top-up's available or throttled data to 2G speeds | Available For the first 18GB |
Plans can be changed at any time. If a data-inclusive plan with a specified amount of LTE data is selected and more data is needed, a one-time data top-up can be added separately to each device on the account. A $5 charge will be added to the next bill.

Ting Return Policy?
Ting.com has a detailed return policy. For new Ting devices, there is a warranty of 1 year from the purchase date. Refurbished Ting devices have a warranty of 30 days from the purchase date. The warranty covers defects in materials or quality but does not include defects arising from damage, normal wear-and-tear or aging, visible accidental physical damage, liquid damage, or "rooted" or "modded" devices.
If a device needs to be replaced due to a defect in materials or quality, the replacement process is initiated. A replacement is shipped right away so that contacts and other data can be transferred to the new device. When the replacement ships out, the credit card on file is preauthorized for the cost of the replacement, just in case the original device isn't returned. A prepaid shipping label is emailed so that the defective device can be returned.
The original device and all components and accessories that were shipped, including battery, charger, USB cable, SD card, and manual (if applicable), must be received back in the warehouse within 21 days of the replacement being shipped. If the original isn't received within 21 days, it is assumed that both devices are wanted, and a charge for the replacement and express shipping fees, if applicable, is made.
Devices returned to Ting must have also had any activation locks removed to allow access for triage. Ting does not cover accidental damage under the warranty. Ting does not offer phone or device insurance, but it can be purchased through a third-party insurer.
If Ting doesn't work out, a device that has been opened and gently used (but not damaged) can be returned within thirty days, so long as fewer than 300 minutes, 300 text messages, and 300 megabytes of data have been used.
